More about Me…

My intrigue into wellbeing, and the ability of the body to heal given optimal conditions, began in my early 20’s when I spent a few months rotating through every department of Australia’s first and leading wellness retreat, Eden Health Retreat (formally Camp Eden). It was there that I learned the power of food to heal the body, alongside the protective effects of a life of intentional movement and “calm amidst the chaos” strategies for a peaceful mind.

I went on to study Nutritional Medicine for 3 years to qualify as a Clinical Nutritionist and practiced within the stunning Health & Fitness Centre at Millbrook Resort, Arrowtown. Through this time I recognised the importance of our emotional connection to food, and equally, the effect food has on our mental and emotional wellbeing.

I then pursued a Diploma in Positive Psychology and Wellbeing to be able to fully understand the behavioural aspects of “why we eat what we eat, when we know what we know”. I believe everyone has an innate ability to “know” what our body needs, but our abundance of modern processed food plays tricks with our built-in satiety barometers and manipulates our taste buds to crave fat, sugar and salt …a deeply ancestral survival mechanism that kept us alive when we foraged whole foods, but now leaves us struggling to survive under the cloud of processed-food-induced chronic illness.

I have spent years in deep research into the science and secrets of longevity, which led me to the fascinating field of Epigenetics, the science of how diet and lifestyle affects gene expression and our predispositions to the leading chronic lifestyle illnesses that confront us as we age.

I spent 2024 under the mentorship of Dr Denise Furness, one of the global leaders in Nutrigenetics, to deeply understand how nutrients interact with genes to impact health and performance. I offer epigenetic testing (an additional cost) as one of my specialty areas of practice. This information helps you understand key concerns such as why you have trouble losing weight, why you may be prone to anxiety under stressful work environments (where some of your colleagues may thrive) and how to best protect yourself from many of the “diseases of aging”.
